Atalanta Running Skirt: does this skirt make my butt look fast?

OK, I admit it: I bought a running skirt. I'm not the girliest of girls but have been intrigued by the concept of a running skirt for quite some time.
Quick summary: I will be getting more! I love my new running skirt!

I found a coupon online for 20% off (or maybe it was 30% off) for the Atalanta running skirts. Atalanta is a company that was started by Kathrine Switzer of first-woman-to-officially-run-Boston fame. I've kind of idolized her for quite some time. I didn't even know that she'd started Atalanta Sports Promotions.

Anyway, I ordered the "Commitment Skirt" , which is kind of short, stretchy, and has a pair of compression shorts underneath. It has two little pockets that could easily hold an iPod or some such thing.

The sizing is unique and is based on measurements rather than traditional women's sizes. I sized squarely in the middle of "Size II". And it fits absolutely perfectly.

I was a little afraid the compression shorts might ride up uncomfortably whilst running (some of the compression shorts I have do this, and it drives me freaking CRAZY!). They didn't. I was afraid the skirt part might flap around and ride up. It didn't. It was super comfortable to run in. The fact that it's super cute is a bonus.

Atalanta makes a few other products, including a skirt that has what is described as "bumhuggers" underneath. Hmmmm. Maybe not for my old bum. All products are described a "chub rub free".

Rating: 5
Where to Buy: Atalanta Athleticwear
Price: $54.00

UPDATE! Sue wore her Atalanta running skirt for the Sapper Joe 50K on 5/23/09 here in Utah. She loved that even with a Nathan waist pack she could still easily access and use the pockets to carry her Hammer Endurolytes (left hip) and Anti-Fatigue caps (right hip). Cutest and most functional skirt on the course, hands down!

  1. Hi there. Just a quick note, to be clear, Kathrine Switzer, while she rocks, and is a friend of atalanta athleticwear, is in no way affiliated with us!

But I'm happy you like your skirt! YAY!

    Happy running.
